50 Whole30 Recipes That Taste Amazing

Whole30 Real Food. 30 Days.
Now that the kids are back in school, eating at home will probably be more commonplace. Not only is eating at home a lot less expensive but can be healthier too. We typically don’t like “diets”, but we have fallen in love with Whole30. Whole30 is not some new-fangled, yo-yo dieting plan designed to make you drop an unhealthy amount of weight in 30 days. No, Whole30 is all about eating real food, food that actually has an expiration date, for 30 days straight. By design, Whole30 is an elimination diet, one in which you refrain from eating dairy, processed foods, legumes, and sugar. On the flip side, foods that are allowed include lean meats or fish, vegetables, some fruit, nuts, and unrefined oils. Sound simple enough? It is…sort of.
From experience, there are two things about Whole30 that are “hard“. The first, you have to learn how to follow a recipe and actually prepare and cook your food. For many of us, this is huge struggle because cooking food from scratch takes time, the one commodity many of us lack. So say goodbye to the Drive-thru because it’s not allowed here. Dust off your knives and cutting board, they’re about to get a workout!
The second hardest thing is eliminating sugar from your diet. Whether you realize it or not, sugar is in almost everything you eat. For the 30 days, you’ll have to become an ingredient reading Pro, because it’s so easy to slip on this one. In fact, you’ll probably walk away from Whole30 completely surprised by the amount of sugar you were consuming beforehand. And let’s just get this one out of the way right now, natural sugars found in fruits do NOT count against you. They are completely allowed, in moderation of course.
Overall committing to Whole30 is incredibly rewarding. Yes, you’ll probably lose weight, but the benefits are much greater than that. Many have reported, including us, a greater sense of self-control, feeling more energized throughout the day, improved mental clarity, and improved athletic performance to name a few.
“It will change the way you think about food, it will change your tastes, it will change your habits and your cravings. It could, quite possibly, change the emotional relationship you have with food, and with your body. It has the potential to change the way you eat for the rest of your life.”
Yes, we do like to eat out, especially when kids eat free. However, following the Whole30 guidelines can truly be a life changer or at least a jumpstart in the right direction. If you’ve been looking for a legitimate way to improve your family’s health, I highly suggest you consider it.
